Once you have created a GanttPRO account, you are ready to launch your first project.
1. Create a project
Click on the plus icon in the top left corner 1 of the page and select Create new project.
Click on Create new project 2, once you configure all the details.
See more details on how to create a project here.
Note that you can also import a project or use Gantt chart templates from different categories.
2. Add tasks and milestones
Add tasks in the project grid 1. They will be displayed as color-coded taskbars 2 on the Gantt chart on the right.
If your plan has any significant points, you can add them as milestones 3. They are displayed with a diamond icon in the Gantt chart 4.

3. Configure the Gantt chart view and Zoom

Use Zoom 2 to adjust the timeline display based on your project's duration and level of detail (from hours to years).
Learn here how to customize a Gantt chart view.
4. Configure task settings
Now you can set tasks' start and end dates, define their estimation and priority, set deadlines and add other details.
Learn how to configure task settings here.
5. Add Standard fields
Add Standard fields 1 to the project grid by clicking on the + sign 2 and checking the required boxes. This will let you have quick access to the most relevant information related to the project.
Later on, you can also add Custom fields 3 to add specific information based on your team’s needs.
6. Establish dependencies
Connect tasks with dependencies if they are related. This will help define task order, track progress, and anticipate possible roadblocks.
Dependencies are displayed as orange arrows on the Gantt chart. Simply hover over a taskbar on the Gantt chart, then click and drag from the circle near one taskbar to the circle near another taskbar to connect them with the arrow.
You can also do this in the Task settings and the Predecessor field. Learn here how to establish dependencies, their types and examples.
7. Assign tasks
Lastly, assign tasks to team members and virtual resources. The easiest and quickest way to do this is from the Assigned field in the Standard fields.
Note that you have to add project participants before assigning tasks. Learn here how to add people to a project.
This is it. Later, you can also configure Project settings, assign project rights to the team members, set personal calendars and start working on your project.
